BooksInNeed here with a book that made my perspective of what the future is change.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Juliette Ferrars has been the asylum for way too long. She got there with her power to kill somebody with physical contact. One day, by accident, she tried to help a boy in the market, and ended up killing him. One touch was all it took. She was all alone, until she got her cellmate. Adam Kent. The boy she liked for most of her life, in the same cell as her. On the bright side, he didn’t seem to remember her. Everything took a turn after that. Juliette got moved out of the asylum… to see that the world that she knew had been destroyed to no green, pollution, no people, and darkness. It was like the world had died, and in a way it did. Adam took her to the Reestablishment where the leader’s son, Warner, makes an offer that if she could torture people for them, she could get out of the asylum. She only agrees because she finds out that Adam is a soldier for the leader of section 45. Surprisingly, Adam has liked Juliette since he first saw her also. The weirdest thing is that Adam is immune to her touch. Now, with Juliette getting the affection from Warner also, she has to figure out how to get out of the Reestablishment, now with Adam at her side, or get swallowed by the darkness that seems to have already killed the world as she knew it. Will her sanity be swallowed, or is her love for Adam enough to keep her going?

Could Juliette survive her touch, or are the two people immune to it going to hold her back?

Thank you, Tahereh Mafi for showing me that people do things they regret, but the people they love will always come first, no matter the consequences or struggle.
